Under Spencer Cox’s failed leadership, a record breaking number of Utahns say our state is on the wrong track.
In a survey released this week by KSL, 62% of the Utah voters polled indicated the state is on the wrong track. The survey has been conducted every four years since 2004, to coincide with Utah’s gubernatorial elections. According to Shawn Teigen, president of the Utah Foundation, “For the first time, the majority of Utah voters say that we’ve had a bad five years and things are heading in the wrong direction,” as reported by KSL. “They are truly fed up,” he added.
I don’t need a poll to tell me this. I hear it every day on the campaign trail.
Everyday Utahns don’t come to me with concerns about the Great Salt Lake, which ranked as the number ten issue for Democrats but did not make the top ten for either independents or Republicans. They come to me with concerns about housing, inflation, and immigration. They feel ignored by the current Governor who has shown that the only Utahns he cares about are his billionaire friends and the handful of elected officials who have been coerced into endorsing him.
Governor Cox likes to boast about his popularity on social media. After his disastrous convention speech, where he was booed and responded by lashing out at the delegates, he immediately posted a video of a staged show of support he received from a group of county commissioners. Luckily, a few county commissioners making endorsements under duress DO NOT get to decide who represents Utah.
Utah voters do.
Utahns are ready for a governor who shares their concerns and dreams for better roads ahead. As your governor, I will always prioritize Utah families and values. I will spend my time working with everyday Utahns and addressing your concerns instead of pandering to elites who want to control you and take your money. Together, we can get Utah back on the right track!
Thank you for standing strong,
Phil Lyman
